2006 Mid-A Morgan Horse Show

We started our trip to the Mid-Atlantic Morgan Horse show on Tuesday night after work. Its a 5 hour drive to the Lexington Horse Center where the show was being held and I couldn't wait to get there! We arrived around 9:00 p.m. and I quickly got my horse trailer unpacked and was off to lunge Headlight in one of the out side rings.
I was thankfull that no one was around and Headlight quickly settled down on the line. The indoor show ring was closed for the night so I would have to wait untill tomorrow to get him exposed to it. I finished up lunging and put him in his stall for the night.
As it turned out my parents weren't able to bring our camper down untill Wensday night so we were forced to sleep in the back of the car (something we are getting familar with). I woke bright and early (4 a.m.) to get Headlight back on the lunge in the main warm up ring.
Around 8:00 a.m. I was finally on my horses back and working him in the main ring. Headlight was a bit worried about the back corner of the indoor (there was a scary door that was open) but I didn't feel it bothered him enough to worry. Our first class was at 6:00 that night (Limit horse class) and this would be my parents first time seeing Headlight in the show ring...I hoped he didn't let me down.

We went into the limit horse class last out of a line of 7 horses! I found myself stuck behind a lady who made her horse go extremely slow. I managed to get from behind her but could never find my pace back on the rail after that. Headlight HATES not being on the rail. The whole ride his ears where pinned and his tail was being swished like a dog.
In the line up I was next to two of my good horse show friends. We all commented on how tough of a class it was due to the lack of experience on our horses parts. I was prepared to collect a thrid or fourth place ribbon when they called my number for FIRST! I was overjoyed...not only because it was at Mid-A but because my parents were there to see the win. It means alot to me when they see me place well, I guess its like I justify all their money I wasted for so many years on horse stuff.
What a GREAT feeling to have everyone who has helped you get to this point there to celebrate it with you!
Our next class was the Amt. Owned, Trained and Shown. Headlight marched into the ring and caught a man standing in his seat and Headlight lost it!
