Headlight's 2007 Show Season Plans
Old Dominion Morgan Horse Show
New York Regional
Grand National & World Championship Morgan Horse show
This year is *hopefully* going to be a big year for Headlight and myself. I plan on hitting alot of shows (Mason Dixon, Southern States, Mid-A, Old-D and maybe The World Championship). Last year's show season was cut short due to my job change and the buying of the farm. I hope to god that nothing major happens that will disturb my show plans.
I have set the following goals for this years show season:
1-Go to at least 3 Morgan shows- DONE
2-Place 3rd or higher at Southern States-DONE
3-Win at least one championship- DONE
I think these are realistic, yet Challenging Objectives.
The first show I'm planing on going to is Mason Dixon. One of my friends is interested in showing there with me which is a good thing and a bad thing.
The good list:
-saves me money on tack room
-saves me money on gas
-my friend will split the hotel fee
The bad list:
-I will have to drive another hour to pick up and drop off the horse
-If she comes then I can't sleep in my car like I planed..therefore spending more money by getting a hotel room
I will have to sit down tonight and figure out how much it will cost her if she comes with me.
*UPDATE* April 20th (one week untill the show)
My friend is comming with me to Mason Dixon (which is a good thing) Derek and I bought a new LQ's horse trailer and so she will be staying in it with us. I figured out with her comming along I will save $140+
The plan right now is to leave next Thursday at 10 a.m. which will put us at the show around 1:30 p.m. I'm praying this gives Headlight enough time to settle down!

Misson "Get ready to Mason Dixon" is in full swing. The only change in our plans now is that we are leaving at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday instead of 10:00 (dumb boss issues). The forecast for the show is looking bad :-( I'm praying it changes soon.
May 15th 2007
So Headlight is heading to his first Regional show! We head to Southern States Regional on Monday, May 21st! The plan is to arrive sometime Monday so that he has plenty of time to settle in before we show. I hope he can handle the stress!
June 25th 2007
I Leave tomorrow to head to the Mid-A Morgan Horse Show! We are leaving the farm at 3:30 and that will hopefully put us at the show at 6:30. My first class is Thursday morning so there isn't much time to get Headlight settled in....I hope he can handle the pressure!
I just filled out my entries for the Grand National & World Championship show! I have to mail the forms out this weekend to make sure they get to the show office before the deadline (since I can't afford the late fees to this show). I don't know where I'm going to come up with the money for the show...UGH I wish money grew on trees!
On a more positive and exciting note I'm going to stable with some big time trainers while in Oklahoma and that is going to be a blast! I think Derek is going to enjoy being in Oklahoma because this show is like non other...YIPEE
September 17th:
I spent this weekend cleaning and packing my horse trailer for the world show. My brushed were cleaned along with my buckets and drawers. I found that I have a collection of hoof polish and shine spray that should last me until the end of next years show season. I also polished some more silver while watching the movie "Man About Town" which sucked big time.
I recieved the email confirming my Grand National number and I have the fabric to start making a new jacket. The vet is doing Headlight's teeth tomorrow at 4:00 so there will be no mouth problems while at the show
September 20th 2007:
Its time to start finalizing my plans for Oklahoma. One thing I'm not looking forward to is the drive there. Mapquest says it takes around 21 hours to get there so I'm figuring it will take us about 24. Here is my "Driving Plan"
