2007 Old Dominion show cont......

Our next class was Amateur western pleasure. Headlight and I had a good ride in the class and came in second to a well known stallion.
I don't normally take Headlight into the open championships at shows but since most people showing at Old Dominion were amateurs we thought it would be a good class. My parents arrived at the showgrounds Saturday night in time for the class. I was dressed in my show clothing and as we started walking Headlight towards the ring and massive storm opened up on us and we ran back for cover at the stables. For two hours we stood around waiting untill the show management completely cancelled the show for that night (something I've never seen done!). It was announced that the show would start at 8:00 and the Western Pleasure Championship would be first in the ring....it was going to be an early morning for Derek and myself, UGH.
Waking up at 5 a.m. Derek and I made our way to the barn. The roads and front of our stalls were flooded from the storm the night before. We were lucky enough to have a nice security guard come by and give us two bags of shavings to pour in front of our stall door so we weren't walking in the mud.
I was able to get Headlight worked that morning (even thought they had closed the main ring) and we placed Reserve in the Championship and won the Amt. Championship!
Here's what the Saddle Horse Report had to say about Headlight:
"making the victory pass with DVF Heart Lite as the reserve champion. The winner of the amateur championship was the consistent DVF Heart Light and Amy Sargent, who won a really nice seven-entry AOTS class."
